oh man please help

I know this probably sounds like a broken record but im gona ask:
I am wanting to upgrade the sound system, I dont want something that will be ridiculously loud. (im too old for that). anyway i am seriously debating bsw stage1 upgrade, the 10" sub upgrade, dice adatpter. Total about $1500. I want something clean looking which is why im considering going with bsw. Should i purchase this or go a different route with sound? Like i said I know that this had been asked my many others but everytime i sign in it tells me i havent posted anything in a while so i fiigured i would now. I am trying to avoid hacking the wiring in the car. but also later may upgrade the HU. anyway thanks for any help

Go with the BSW package. I just installed the Stage 1 on my 2001 325Cic last week and absolutely love it. I am going to order the stealth sub package as well in the near future, even though you could go without it. I just think it will tie the package together. In my opinion, it is well worth the money and the simplicity and sound quality will have you not regretting the purchase at all. I'll let others comment on the sub since I do not have it. I have heard great things though. Good luck!

i just installed the BSW Stage 1 in my car last weekend also. Sounds great.

Did not get the subwoofer. I am on the fence about that.

I think that the BSW stage I upgrade will satisfy most people here. I think the biggest shortcoming of the OEM system is the lack of a decent low end. I'd suggest about 500 watts for your sub(s)...that will give you a good amount of low end without having to rip out your rear speakers and ski pass.

the BSW upgrade is specifically designed for your stock amp. If you want a rich sound, I guarantee it will give it to you. I was in the same boat as you; wanting better sound without it becoming a rolling boom box. I did it and absolutely love it. CD's sound very rich. I did the sub as well, but went with a boston acoustics set up; just a little better amp and sub than the bsw...plus you can do it yourself. their instructions are easy to read and easy to follow.....

Yeah, and just upgrading the speakers will have you tapping into the existing wire harness. Besides de BSW instructions are very good, just follow'em and do a clean install and all be ok with the oem wires.

I was wondering when the stage 2 will come because I am in the same boat as you. Stage 2 is same as the stage one but will replace the oem amp right?

I'd like to hear more about this Boston Acoustics sub as well

I was looking at a JLAudio amp and sub ... tying into the same wires as the BSW sub. my main concern is keeping the trunk space.

the CarAudio shop was also talking about how well sealed the BMW trunk is and needing to do "something" to let the bass into the car ??

For $1500 you can go to a professional, reputable audio shop and they can put in a system that you will be MUCH happier with in the long run. Not only will they be doing the work (as I am assuming the majority of people aren't close to the BSW factory) but they will be using much higher quality speakers. When I was upgrading my speakers, I looked into BSW but they were twice the cost of nice aftermarket speakers. If anything, only get the subwoofer from BSW because of the simplicity and stealth offered by the unit. Just my $.02 though, do whatever you think is best!
