Pointless Intake.

Without getting defensive, crying or talking s**t, someone please explain what one hopes to achieve by installing an aftermarket CAI system. Seriously. You aren't increasing the size of your throttle body so your engine isn't seeing an increase in air flow.................period. (excluding the Dinan TB upgrade) The air is no cooler inside a CAI than it is inside a stock system. Actually, a lot of the systems I see use all the same ductwork as stock, but have a disconnect and a huge cone filter attached to the throttle body which is sucking in all that nice cool air from the engine bay (as opposed to getting it from outside that hot engine bay like a stock system). Another variation I've seen is where there is a snout which feeds in air coming from the brake cooling ducts. I see no point in this either, although it doesn't seem as pointless as the one with the huge filter right above the nice cool engine. However, they sound great!

iono my computer tells me im getting 1-2mpg more compared to before so thats nice. besides that i think it sounds good and I think it more affects the rate at which the air is going in compared to stock rather than the amount of air going in like u said. Colder air is more dense compared to warm air therefore although the amount going in might be the same, it could result in bigger detonations. True CAIs like the ones that extend down to the bumper I think will actually help considering the stock intake box still gets pretty hot just from being inside the engine bay. Besides, at 45 dollars I think it's pretty good (DIY intake with heatshield), I agree with you that intakes don't exactly do much, and I also think spending any more than 100+ on one PERSONALLY is not logical for such little gains. However, I may be wrong so feel free to correct me.

Don't base your MPG on what the instrument cluster is telling you. The real truth comes when you calculate it manually (miles driven/approx. gallons in tank). BTW, I think the oil-typed cone filter (K&N) can do more harm to the engine than good.
