Anyone with experience building auto transmissions?

So the college I'm going to offers an auto transmission/transaxle class, and the description is: This course focuses on the development of skills in removing and replacing, repairing, adjusting, and servicing drive train components in automatic transmissions.

So I was thinking, what does it take to beef up one of our steptronic transmissions to be able to sustain more power, say adding a S/C or T/C.. And Does anyone believe this class could possibly go into enough detail that I would gain the knowledge needed to preform such a task?

Negative. Sounds like transmission 101. No course work will teach you how to beef it up. Just the fundamentals.

And from the fundamentals can I learn on my own or is it something only a pro can do?

Well, if you know about transmission, you can buy the aftermarket parts to replace some of the OEM bad desgin and eventually make the Steptronic stronger. There's one company that can rebuild your steptronic transmission to better handle S/C or T/C kits. I forgot what company it was but do a search here. BTW, why would you want to go this route anyways. Cost too much. Probably cheaper to sell your step and buy manual if you are going to S/C or T/C your car.

Well if I were to do all the work myself isn't a rebuild kit like 7-800 dollars? That's not too bad
