Doesnt matter what they want.

They have to get a switch box to correct the load on the amplifier.

You can just leave all the rooms on if you want, but you still have to protect the amp.

It is possible to wire in both series and parrallel to achive a decent overall load, but it is beyond your knowledge a very easy to screw up.

BTW, I do this for a living. Trust me when I tell you that they will want independent room control soon enough. It will get real old trying to control a house full of speakers at different levels and different sound qualities.

What happens when someone is cooking dinner listing to music and the phone rings and somone answers it in the office and cant hear?

Different rooms will be different volumes, its a mess.

Go to www.CEDIA.org and find a quality installer that is CEDIA certified in your area.

Ok, I'll lay it out for ya one more time. Buy an audio sensing amplifier (like the link I showed you), hook a source into it (an ipod with the cable I showed you). If you need more than one amp, you can interconnect the two. Once you do that you can set the levels on each channel of the amp so they all turn on to the same volume every time.

So in summary. You select a song from the ipod, the amp senses music, turns on all its zones, voila, music in the whole house.

And Im with glock on this one. You ARE going to want independent volume control of each zone. I have yet to see an install where this wasn't a REQUIREMENT. But if you still want to go down that road, that's how you do it.

PS - If you want to go with the whole house audio amp route, I have one of these for sale cheap...$600. Retails for $1500

I dont think you need it for your application though. I would just buy or use a beefy stereo receiver and the niles box I already showed you.

30w x 12 speakers.

Wattage has nothing to do with amplification loads.

You are clueless and fooling youself.

Everytime you wire two speakers in parallel you drop your impedance in half thus working your amp twice as hard. Most amps are not 4ohm stable and will clip in to protect mode immediately. As soon as you add another set, you drop it more, another set and it works ever harder.

Amps are designed to run 4-8ohms. Impedance varies based on speaker design and the music that is being played.

If you hook up 4 speakers to one set of speaker terminals you will be lucky if the protect mode comes on without damaging your receiver (at ANY volume or ANY wattage.)

Did it ever dawn on you why there are NO receivers (at any price) that have 6 rooms of output on them?
