Advice for front speakers/amp and head unit. PLEASE help u guys!

Okay so long story short. My brother gave me his used JL XR 6.5 speakers and pioneer head unit and JL amp for my car all around. My 2003 sedan suffured damage to front door panels, a shitty install, rattling crossovers, and a head-unit that failed. So, when this hapened i got pissed and cut the wiring, removed the speakers and cross overs, bought new door panels (black instead of tan ) and now, 6 months later I want a system again.

SO, I have a planet audio sub/amp in a box that is really light.
It sounds really great for the music I listen to so I'm happy with it.

Im broke so I'm thinking about just figuring out how to install with my mechanically inclined brothers help and soldering/connecting the speaker wire.
MY question is, what front speaker set-up will bump the hardest and sound best for a low price. 300$.....400$? AND, can I run them with a really good head unit 300$ ish.... or should I buy a head-unit and run them with amp.
I plan on installing the sub so extra front bass clarity I could care little for, but loudness + sound quality of front speakers is important. I dont want to invest more than 750$ at once. I'll consider buying an amp later down the road if/when I get tired of running them off the head unit.

Please help with speaker and head-unit opinions, also, what you think I should do about the head unit/speaker amp situation. Thanks a lot guys I have been out of the audio scene since I got those speakers a couple years ago so I need help

I'm redoing my system in my ride as well. I didnt cut into my doors though. I stuck with 5 1/4 components in the front. I have a pair or CDT audio comps upfront. the quality is top notch, but not loud enough for me anymore. I have been doing car audio for years now and have acquired a need for loud but rich sounding music. I have been using CDT audio for the last couple of years, but I've been using their 6.5" speakers. with our cars only being able to fit 5.25"'s with out modding, I'm forced to steer away from CDT as their speakers are not what I need do to size. I have always LOVED Morel speakers. I haven't had the money for them, other wise I'd have a pair. I can now afford a set and is what I'll be going with. they sound amazing. Loud and yet very accurate rich sound. I've done my homework and CDT audio and Morel is what has been working for me. the Morels' can be had for less than $300 (tempo 6 model).

For my audio needs. House, hip-hop, and mainly acoustic/...i guess soft rock(singer/songwriter type stuff) I want LOUD speakers which hopefully can handle bass for hip-hop but loudness is really key. I am willing to spend up to 400$ for a bad ass set of speakers ( a 3-way system would be cool ). I have never heard of morel but ill look into it. Any links?
PS: What about my amp ordeal. I dont want to cut budget on speakers to get an amp...

JL componenets (c5s or even c2s):

Those would be my pick for great SQ and loudness.

WOW last I checked JL audio had no new products. Damn they stepped their game up nicely. TO be hones I thought that.... for the price.... the XRs were pretty low quality. I mean they sounded great but I expected amazing results with the 300/4 amp.... didnt really get these lol. Those C5 speakers look pretty promising.

One thing: Because I'm only going to be running front speakers isnt it beneficial to had a 3 speaker set-up(like stock) versus two way? Another thing, I had 6.5 inch XR in the front but I ended up fukcing up my door panel to get them to fit and I am wondering if the 6.5 speakers have any sort of aftermarket mounts these days that are actually OEM or good looking. Thanks for all the help

PS: Have you actually heard these speakers in real life in an average, not show car style, set up?

:EDIT: DAMN. Just noticed I can afford their top of the line actually. lol.

:Super edit: does anyone have experience with these ebay rings? If I could fit 6.5s up their it would be EPIC since they will be my only speakers!!!

Okay so it looks like the JL ZR 6.5s are actually 6.75" so they wont fit in the door panel. What are some comparable or BETTER components for the price or cheaper!??! Also, if the mounting depth is shallow I can fit 6.5" in the door panel with a mount correct? I want speakers capable of loud music (since im only running fronts). PLEASE HELP!!
Also, what head unit should I get?? Im thinking a Pioneer Premier but I really would like the forums advice Should I go MP3 or no? Thanks guys please help I need to make purchases soon b/c my window to install all this stuff is about a week and a half away.

Look into rainbow germaniums, slc's, profis, and vanadiums. Also look into Hybrid Audio Technologies.

I had JL XR 6.5" 3-way components in my sedan. When I opted not to cut into the doors, the way I fitted them was raising a bit the door panel with tall door plugs. The woofer did fit fine in the speaker hole in the door panel. Later I did cut through the door and used MDF rings to make a good and solid install of the woofer to the door.

Donīt think you should be too much concerned between 2 or 3 way comps.

As far as brands, can help that much, I first had pioneers and then the JL XRs. So can only comment that the pioneers I had were a bit too commercial (consumer) speakers. The brand listed by the others all have very good all-around comments on the forums.

I think you're at a good start if you begin powering with the headunit. And that being said you're maybe not going to get all the loudness of the speakers you buy in this first stage. So my recommendation will be to buy the headunit/speakers that more less fits your budget. Then when the amp comes, you'll then find out just how loud the speakers can go and decide what next from there.

Pictures here:http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showpos...&postcount=427

You can see the modified door plugs used to raise the door panel. But this way of installing is prone to road noise and some squeaking.

Thanks a lot!! Ya I was going to get the JL audio ZR650 but turns out, they are 6.75" so that makes it even harder to fit.... and i think impossible to fit versus the diameter of the 6.5.

BUT. I NEED help deciding what head unit (I want one with highest SQ+RMS output) and speakers to get. PLEASE HELP GUYS!!

i recommend the pioneer premier p880prs. Gives you options to run your speakers active if you want to. One of the best decks ive ever owned.

Oooo looks perfect. 4x22 rms. Thats the most powerful right? Anyway, I was looking on a bunch of sites and it said it was discontinued on a couple of those. Is this thing about to become outdated? O well looks really good I may just order it tonight or tomorrow

Is the "P800" just a new model of the "p880" ? They have identical specs (minus bluetooth which i hate) so sounds like I just just buy the "older" model and save my money right If anyone can chime in gimme some info that'd be great

Just bought this guy on amazon

thoughts??

according to caraudio.com, the 800prs is the newer model over the p880. Has all same functionality but they added a USB port and a copper chassis to the 800.

Specifications:
2-Way Component system
W 165 SLC 6.5 inch Woofer
62 / 60 mm Mounting depth
CAL 2405 Silk Tweeter
Maximum 120 watt

Are these SLC 265 - Rainbow SLC 6.5" speakers able to run off of just the head unit or are they too high powerd^^^ ? I cant really afford an amp or the install time quite yet so I need REALLY GOOD speakers that can be run off of the pioneer premier head unit.

Okay. So my final inquiry is speaker selection. Because of the fact that I'm going to be running only the head unit for the time being (22rms watts), i need a set of 6.5" components for less than 300$ to run off of the pioneer hu. An amp MAY be in the future but im not going to have the car for too long so its not feasable. What speaks to get? I feel like getting really quality high RMS speakers may be counter productive to just getting the best... say 50rms or so speakers i can find.
You guys have been very helpful so far but please make some recomendations !! I need to purchase soooon.
