I did my speech today, my final point was about the speed at which one of these situations happens and how impractical it is to wait for police

muzzle velocity of a .45 ACP = 830 FPS
Average response time in large city = 7 Min

If a round was fired and we negated gravity and air resistance

(830 fps X 7 m X 60 s)/ 5280 ft = 66.022

By the time the police arrive the round would have covered the distance across my state.
