in the back though? .. How do justify that? the threat seems to have ended because he's running away, kind of. JonJon how would that work? Is it still justifiable and considered a threat because he is still there (running away/ leaving) after having pointed the gun at them or do you just let him run ? Anger aside what is the correct thing to do? Of course if your confronted face to face and you can pull it off i would cap his ass but what about him already leaving?

this isnt the wild west. having a gun fight with a bunch of ppl around doesnt seem like the smartest idea in the world.

You can't shoot someone in the back, that is just asking for charges from the police even though the scumbag is the one that robbed you.

This is just another reason to conceal or open carry. Of course when concealing your weapon it should not be "stuffed down in your crotch somewhere" but easily accessible since you don't know when or if you will even need it. By carrying a pistol in your pocket it could have looked like you were pulling out your wallet, but you better hope that you are a good shot.

To give a big surprise to the robber you could have given him your wallet, then after he turns around yell something at him (if he is another race then a racial insult works well... doesn't make you racist!) and when he turns around you already have your weapon drawn and aimed, then shoot.

Take care of the robber right then and there or politely ask him to wait for 3-4 minutes until the cops show up.

yup, a buddy of my dad's friend is doing time because someone robbed his store. when the dude turned away to leave he put 2 bullets in his back.
