So finally got everything put together and my pelican case cut out. Thought I'd share a couple pics with you guys. I have the 10 rounders in there for the range. I'm in Cali. Don't want to deal with the hastle of jsutifying my 30 rounders.

Nice build man! Isn't the 14.7 in barrel considered NFA though?

I just bought mine this morning...decided to buy one out of the box. It was expensive, but I'm really happy with the purchase. Its a Colt 6940 (monolithic upper). Pics later...

whats does something like this cost?

i'm not anti-gun, but doesnt seem like something that every citizen would need.

Don't let the looks fool you. It's not automatic, it's no different than a regular rifle, it shoots the same .223 than your typical hunting rifle and no more dangerous. Add to the fact that in California, he has only 10 rounds and has to pop the rifle open to load it since he magazine is locked in.

As for the OP, how long did it take you to complete the build. They are months of wait for most of the parts to do the build. Luckily I built my last year before the rush.

How much were your magazines ?

I wish the bolt was reversible like the French have ...so if you are left handed it ejects to the other side.
Shooting an M16 for left handers adds a new dimension to the experience when hot brass is ejected and goes down your shirt collar.

Try being in the prone position on a firing line with a left hand shoot on your right with brass deflector, his cases hitting you in the face

Not quite close, but try maintaining positive control of your weapon system while trying to down a vanilla dairy shake (with the creamer, sugar and coffee thrown in for good measure - DELISH) and a spaghetti with meat sauce while being in the prone.

14.7 with a pinned flash suppressor makes it 16", which is legal. Congrats on the Colt 6940. None of those to be fround around here. Definitely no denying Colt's quality.

It cost me around 2300 total. Not every citizen needs something like this. Not many citizens need Ferraris either, but some have them. It's mainly for sport, target practice. It may come in handy if SHTF though

I got 6 30 round mags for 100 bucks, but I had to repaint them. The upper came with 1 10 rounder and the other two were around 12 bucks each.

Stag Arms makes a left handed AR-15. You could probably get one ASAP from Dynamic Armament out of Glendale, AZ. I just got my Stag-15 (right handed though) on Friday. Took about 2 weeks.

OP, nice build. Damn CA gun laws though.

Thanks for the comments guys. Can't wait to take this thing to the range. The fit and finish on the upper is great. I'll keep you guys informed on how I like the gas piston system.

It is still a regular rifle. It is like anything else. Sometimes people want something different.
Just because you own a Hummer does not mean you are going to invade a hostile nation.

The weapons similar to this one are still a 308, 223 etc... The only thing different is the appearance.
They are still semi autos just like any rifle.

You can convert them to full auto but it is illegal without a special license.

The gas piston setup is like the HK 416 right? Should make for a cleaner rifle and a more reliable one.

Yup, same short stroke gas piston design.

Unless that's a RAW, the moment you insert a 30rd mag, you have an illegal assault weapon. Looks like you have a Bullet Button on it.

I do have a bullet button. I will only be using the 10 round mags at the range and to travel with. The 30 round mags are to keep at home or shoot on private property.
