DigitalHorizon Buttonwillow Track event pics with GunMoto"Non Hardparking" content

Last month, me, digitalhorizon(Daniel), GunMoto and friends hit up a SpeedVentures track event held at Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield. This was a great event for all of us cuz: I haven't been to one this year, Daniel hadn't shot in a while, and It was GunMoto's first time racing his car (even though he's a seasoned GP Bike racer).

The start of the day looked bleak..We left LA in rain, fog, and it was fukin cold! We said if it rained at the track then the hardcore would still run with tails out. Once we got to the track, we found that it was hard to find...Thick fog, but it burned off in a couple hours. There were lots of S2000's, couple fast Subaru's, E36 track car, some high end cars( GT2, Viper, Z06's...abeit slow)..

I was especially exited to see Gunther's 328 running. As many of you may know, his car is tuned on the functional side with good suspension and wide(not so great tires). His car is pretty much stock and set up with daily driving performance comfort in mind. Although he races GP bikes and knows his lines, he's never raced a car. After some easy laps behind slow traffic with the instructor, he ended up running times in the 2:20 range which is great for a first timer with a basic car. No big brakes, engine mods, bolt ons, etc. He was running times faster than some E46 M3's I've seen there in the past with all kinds of hardparker mods..

All in all, it was a great day. Fast cars, good friends, the smell of kush and racing gas. Doesn't get any better than that.

On to the pics:

Okay, enough parked cars...Some moving ones.

Glad you guys like them pics...

Heres a couple of GunMoto's ride taken by the track photographer. He's able to ride a dirtbike to the parts of the track that are off limits to anyone else.

How much did the track day run you guys?

18x9.5 +45 all around with a 10mm spacer (+35 effective offset)

255/35/18 Michelin PS1s I think.

Costs vary, this particular event was $160 early-bird sign-up. I paid $170 2-weeks before the event.

This trackday was set up by Speed Ventures, here's their 2009 schedule:
