want to share a pic of the back side of the mirror? did you end up taking the gauge out of the original housing to fit the mirror?

I didn't get any pics of the back but I'm building another mirror for someone next week and will get more pics. The gauge does have to come out of the housing and circuit boards have to be modified to fit inside the mirror, a lot of desoldering and resoldering.

Good stuff, very well done.
Never been a fan of the bunny ear gauge setup either...

On another note, i noticed in HPF's ad in "The next HorsepowerFreaks Ad coming to Newstands Near You" thread, the stage 3 does a 60-130 in 5.2 seconds.
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=677079
But your sig says your 5.86 is the BMW world record...

Stage 3 must be out of this world

Wow amazing craftsmanship. I think this looks a million times better than the gauge pods. Great job.

did you just remove the bulb to the SES light, since that is the easiest fix.

No, the bulb is soldered in. I just stuck a small piece of dense black foam in front of the light. I will try to get a diy posted this afternoon for this.

very cool bro. i think HPF might want to have this as an option in there kit. i know i hate smacking my hands on those gauges when using smg paddles.

I see. The only reason I said that was my friend that did my custom gauges was going to take the bulb out at frist, until we came up with the idea of making it a turbo icon instead. You project looks sick btw

I've talked to Chris a little about it. If there's enough interest I will probably work something out with HPF to make it available as an option to current and future HPF M3 owners. The install requires moving the knock siren, fuel switch and light. I think I'd be more comfortable having them handle as much of that as possible. We'll see. I'm going to build one for Chris and let them check it out and take it from there.

the only problem with the black foam "fix" - in states like MD where they check to see the light and how it cycles in addition to checking the OBDII port for any faults for the vehicle and the emissions inspections
