245/40/18s fit in the rear????

I am about to switch my rim/tire combo.

I have a set of staggerred replica M5 wheels 18s (I think 8 for the front and 9s for the rear). I am planning on fitting a 225/40 for the front but I am trying to find out if a 245/40 fit in the rear of my 2000 323i sedan????

I know that its recommended to go with a 255/35 for the rear but I can get the 245/40's for FREE-ninety nine from a friend of mine so I wanted to make sure they fit before I get them mounted on the rims.

Ohh and in case it matters I am dropped on an H&R Coilover kit.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Too high. You will rub. Especially with the H&R cup kit. I wouldn't do it. What's offset on the rims?

I'd agree that rubbing would be a concern with tires that tall on a lowered car.

OK GUYS, Here's a status check:

BTW Thanks for all that replied.

This weekend I mounted the 245/40/18 Pirellis on a set of Staggered Replica M5 wheels (8 Fronts, 9 Rears) with a 38 Rear Offset on my H&R Coilover lowered 323i and there was NO RUB!!!!!!!

The tires actually sat very nice on the rims/ stance of the car, however if the rear is compressed with maybe 2 full size adults there is a possibility of rubbing on the bumper tabs (Inner Fender) other then that it should be just fine.

Thanks Again!

Great to hear! Each tire has different characteristics though, so just a heads up to others. One person may not rub, but another person may with a different tire setup.

This guy will rub. It's not a matter of whether it will rub under certain conditions, but whether it will rub at all.

He will rub with a loaded car and going over bridge connections on highways. So yes, he will rub as he already anticipates. This is the advice we are trying to give to people here on this forum.

All depends. I run that size on the rear and am fine but as said, every combo is different.
