what if u have a salvage e46....? is that excluded? couse my e46 had this problem!! and i got it fixed with a friend under the table for cash....i have no proof....also i sold the car....anything would help!!!

My god... that video is pretty compelling to cause a class action lawsuit against BMW.
I heard the percentage of BMW's E46's having this issue is around 1%... I don't know if that's true but that subframe may of caused my accident I had two years ago when my driver rear side gave out. Steve ASPTuning |

Haven't had any problems yet but I just replaced worn out stock struts and shocks with bilsteins so I guess I'm screwed if anything does happen. I only say this because I'm sure they're gonna D.Q. as many people as possible to save a buck or two.

I got my car lowered w/ H&R Springs & a 19" rims years ago, therefore will not benefit from this then... |

That video is a trip i have not heard the noise but i would get my car inspected to be sure. I still think BMW should reinforce everyones cars. Was this due to corrosion to the unibody or something.

Hmm, I own an 05 325 sport, I've heard a clunking noise from mid/rear whenever I shift hard or push the clutch while backing up fast up a hill (driveway). Always thought it was normal. Troubling. Going to have BMW check it out.
Also, BMW replaced my control arm bushings two times in the past 8 months of having the car. They said they had no idea, perhaps too much "hard breaking". Could this be related? |

so if i wanted to take my car into the dealership to get checked out, should i bring the letter BMW sent me in order to back up my case that the cost of repairs should be covered by BMW?

I doubt that this is because of your subframe, my 325 has over 60k, and I am still on factory bushings. |

My 2000 323ci. Has the identical cracks as pictured in the video. I was wondering if anyone here has had this fixed before. I was wondering what they do to fix? i.e. replacing the chasis or if if they weld a bracket or something.
