New iphone connection

My wife is going to buy me a new iphone for my birthday. My question is:

What do I need to connect it into my 2004 330ci, so it will work with my steering wheel controls, speakers, head unit, etc.? I have read a little about this simple unit, MOTOROKR T505 Bluetooth, but thought there is a better system out there. Please give me suggestions. Something I can DIY or somewhere to take and have installed for less than my right arm.

A bit pricy

If you plan on hooking it up and accessing it as an iPod, the DICE module from EAS works like a freakin' champ. If you want bluetooth integration as well EAS has some sort of gadget for that too. I've had the DICE hooked up to my 2g iPhone for months and have been happy with it. I never make enough phone calls in the car to justify adding bluetooth, I need some sort of excuse.

Our Bluetooth kits support the following functions:

- Voice Activated Dialing
- Phonebook Synchronization
- SMS Text Message Display (depending on carrier)
- Name Recognition
- Voice Activated Navigation (vehicles equipped with NAV)
- Digital Notepad

And most importantly - does not void factory warranty, since we are using only Genuine BMW parts. This is also compatible with the iPhone.

Is this a hard DIY?

Will the iphone connection work with the steering wheel controls? Can it answer and make voice activated calls? Truely hands free?

You would answer the phone using your steering wheel control button, and hang up the same way. You can place voice tags on names, to use hands free dialing though, rather than entering every number manually, or even just engage the call on your iphone, then set the phone down while you talk

Just to confirm, if I was to get the DICE module, will it allow me to use my iPhone in the car handsfree?

You have an 04 ZHP. You're only options is OEM Bluetooth, which is amazing.

Can be done with all OEM parts for $400:

You can make / receive phone calls while the Dice is playing... You can't however use your address book, since the Dice won't release control of the radio display screen.

The DICE is not a handsfree kit, but will mute the music while a call is in progress so you can pick up the call.
