Possible Solution For The Pop Up Screen Problem?

I'll probably get shot down in flames here but, looking for a way around the problem of the single din nav/cd etc head unit with the pop up screen which covers the centre air vents - what's to stop you moving the a/c controls to the top, mounting the single din h/u underneath it so when the screen pops up it's not completely covering the vents? Or maybe moving the a/c controls down to the sunglasses pocket position (with relevant new bezel), blanking off the top din slot (directly under the vents) and mounting the new h/u with pop up screen in the second position (as above)? Just a thought .....

Not enough room without cutting into the A/C vents, same problem as installing a double DIN system.
