HK Kickpanel Doorspeaker Distortion
Hey Guys,
I ran new RCA's to my amp, turned on the high pass filter on my head unit set to 100Hz. The high volume distortion has been substantially reduced with the exception of my kick panel speakers. I'm not sure what size they are or their frequency response but im guessing they are 5.25". I am getting a wierd sound, hard to describe but I guess it is distortion. It kinda sounds like scraping your fingers on the bottom of a large Dixi cup if that makes any sense. Would you reccomend replacing these with better speakers, add some sort of filtration, or make changes on the pioneer head? tanks |

sounds like the the voice coil rubbing. Often times the voice coil shape becomes distorted because of the heat build up in the speaker on exposure to moisture. If you have installed an aftermarket amp you should expect to upgrade the speakers.
