rainbow v cdt

want to upgrade my front end in e46 wagon. should i just go for the easy bsw/rainbow setup or dig out thee fibreglass and mdf and shoe horn my cdt' s in.

I like the smooth audiophile cdt sound and as they have a wide sound dispersion i thought they would help with the low mounting position.

Anyone heard em both side by side, i alos have some rockford fanatics but they dont really do it for me!!

Thanks

Glen

IMO, the CDTs are pretty good. My only complaint is their tweet is a little lacking in quality among the pricier lines.

But if you are willing to invest some elbow grease...I'd shoe horn the CDTs in.

I've had both CDT Classic 6.25 comps that i had to do a little work to get in (custom mounting ring and drilled hole to get a little bit more room for magnet) and also the BSW set. Both sounded pretty good when amplified (I had 110 watts running to each channel on both setups), however I felt the CDT's had more midbass kick and a better overall sound, although the BSW Rainbows did have very nice tweeters. The overall midbass increase on the CDTs may have been due to the install, but the BSWs were very easy to put in. Overall I say go with the CDT's.

My personal opinion, having had both, is that Rainbow/BSW drivers are simply better drivers than the CDT. This is not to say the CDT are not good drivers, they are. I just personally like the sound and experience of the Rainbow/BSW drivers.

I replaced my speakers with Rainbows back in 2007 and I still love the sound. I also replaced the those stupid midranges with Rainbows also. Check my DIY.

thanks guys, great feedback, for clarification it would be a 2 way setup in a uk touring/wagon and all powered by soundstream amps....

Has anyone mounted speakers under the front seat for increased midbass??
