So it's somewhere in the 700's rwhp and 900's rwtq. It weighs 3720 with driver plus a passenger, so it's not light. It's pretty weak on the blower, only makes 465 rwhp, so it needs alot of nitrous to make up the power. The car should be 550 or so on the blower with what he has, but he is overspinning the blower by around 13k rpms, so it's making alot of heat. It's about 250-260 rwhp worth of nitrous on it.

The first run, both cars spun pretty good, the Bimmer black tracked pretty hard, but went straight, Mustang got out of it and back into it and got out pretty good on that run. Second run, they both did much better, and it was a better race too.

I cant wait to see how the BMW does with some bigger tires and the race gas, I still think it's gonna need a drag radial instead of a street tire, so he can try to brake boost that sob!

Video coming soon.
DR is coming soon
I am racing the Pro-Charge 427 C5-R Z06 tomorrow night, he want it on camera, do you want to vid it. I am still gonna run on pump/meth. Maybe Race/Meth. He just got some new tires. We are doing a 65-75 mph roll.

So you decided to go with drag radials? Good stuff!

Hmmm, I may be down to video it, and may be able to get Stickers to bring the Mustang again, but I dont think he will do a 65-75 roll. Has the Z06 owner been practicing his shifting yet? What kind of power on the race/meth setting? PM me a time and a location.....

I do love the HPF cars, and was really considering an M3 just for the HPF mods, but after researching all of my options and being a die-hard porschephile, I realized I could put the same money in a 996 turbo and mod it nicely. You can find 996 turbos in the $40s now and for $10k in mods you can put down 600+ awhp and the car has atleast as much potential as the M3, with more prestige, looks, handling, traction, etc. I do however love the HPF cars and love the sleeper aspect of the cars. I wish I had the funds to buy a modded 996 turbo and have a HPF M3 vert, but that's not possible right now.

Had a 996 TT for about a year. One of the most boring sports cars I've ever driven. Only 'good' thing would be if you want lots of attention. Other than that it has no rear legroom, a worthless trunk, etc.

Ask yourself if you really want AWD--it's not necessarily a good thing, depending on your driving style. I like being able to kick the rear end out and be a little more on the edge.

Also, a TT is not nearly as usable everyday (obviously) as an e46 m3.

Personally, I'd take the m3. 996 TTs cost 40k for a reason. Notice how 993 Turbos have stayed significantly higher despite the fact that they are older.

Thanks for the advice, but this wouldn't be my first Porsche, and I have no need for the trunk or rear seats as I have an e46 sedan for my daily driver. I'd love to have the all wheel drive here in Tennessee because we have we have some of the best drivers roads in the country and people come here from all over the east coast just to drive these curvy mountain roads. That huge horsepower with rear wheel drive on one of the roads like "the dragon" (google it), where we have 318 curves in 11 miles, would be a handful! I'm not going to be doing alot of those 60-130 runs around here.
The reason the 996tt costs less than the 993tt is because of the very large production numbers of the 996tt versus the 993tt and because of the 993tt being the last air cooled turbo. The 993tt only had 2403 cars sold in the US AND Canada for the 96 and 97 model years and only 739 were sold worldwide for the 98 model year. On the other hand, the 996tt had a total of 6604 coupes and 2556 cabs sold in the US alone! Huge difference! The price difference is simple supply versus demand and the exclusivity of owning the last air cooled porsche turbo produced. The 996tt is an awesome car to mod and one of the most reliable ultra-high performance cars out there. I'm pretty much sold on it.

K24/18g turbo upgrade with a few minor mods on race gas will get you around 600awhp with the equivelant torque and can be had for around $10k. These cars are fairly easy to modify and get into the 10 sec 1/4 mile range.

Wow didnt realize just upgrading the turbos would help increase power that much. That is pretty awesome. But remember a 10k E46 M3 with a blown engine and say 45k for everything to be upgraded including suspension and you are sitting at 650whp on pump gas alone, not including methanol

Darn you Rich! You and your master plans! Knowing you, Chris will be making a whole new stage to keep you happy with planning like that lol. A K24/18g upgrade to a 996 911 is nasty for the money. Titan Motorsports of Orlando offers an upgrade like that now even though they are a Supra shop. They sell the K24/18g kit w/ ECU tune for $5850, add in a new exhaust, intercoolers and labor and you'll be looking at 10k or so. When Protomotive, perhaps the best P-Car tuner out there offer this kit for the 996, it was a game changer and the car was stomping on many things with an upgrade so simple as the turbos use factory manifolds.
