I just checked tirerack and those wheels are for non-m.

What tires do you have on them?

whether 18 or 19 inch, rear offset should be around 25 for proper M3 fitment. Will not look right otherwise and might not fit with an offset of 40. You need spacers. If you had these on your car without spacers, post up some pics.

40 on the rear will fit but they will not look as aggressive as 20 offset, also less room between caliper and wheel.

18x10 et40 wheels for the rear require a 10-20mm spacer, for an E46 M3, to bring the offset to around 20-30mm. So you're forgetting about the spacer that's required.

For example, I also have an E46 M3-fitment set of 18" BBS wheels for sale, and my 18x10's have an offset of 28mm.
