Wait so people that have said 'no issues/problems' never had a mis-shift for smg? EVER? I have an 05 with 38k and I remember a total of 3 times throughout the entire 38k that the smg tried to shift from 2 to 3 but wouldn't go into 3 and my rpms would just shoot up. And I wasn't pushing the car either, just normal city driving in S4. Wonder what it could be. Other than that, never had any other smg problems.

You sir should entertain some research prior to making such comments. 330's do indeed come with SMG's. They are rare, but they existed as a factory upgrade (~$4,000) when ordering. They are apparently more common in Europe...

The local Manheim dealer auction in Auburn had two 330i's with SMG in August.

Ciao,
M

155,000!!!!

I think i beat you all with my millage!
At 140k replaced Crankshaft valve, power steering pump and the high pressure lines to it. Oh, at 141k one of the pulleys from the serpentine belt locked up, flew of ripping the housings with it. left me with replacing half of the cooling system as well as the "BIG" piece, where it bolts in (forgot what it's called) the big metal piece where the oil filter stands... Yeah... Fun part about the story... I just got out of the shop where i changed my oil, no squeaks or anything... I was supposed to drive 1000 miles next day.. )

re checking in lol, 63,500. SMG was shifting wacky, delays from 1>2 with harsh shift loud clunk, delay 2>3 3>4 4>5 and mis shift 2>5, It was the THROTLE BODY and 2 of 3 positioning sensors, now its flawless again. The Throtle position sensors effect the shift timing and patterns on the SMG, so it aint always the SMG boys and girls... im happy and love my smg even more now :]

Some mis-shifting can be atributed to other parts of the car, the sensors work in sync with one another so something acting goofy somehwhere else in the engine bay might infact effect the smg.
