Cool More "Jl W7 with Phoenix Gold amp" questions

I've decided for space vs performance concerns to go with two JL 10W7's and I will be using Phoenix Gold Titanium amps with my setup when I get every part of this puzzle put together.

Which amp should I go for? Should I run one Ti 1200.1 which would allow me to split 1400w between the woofers, or should I go with two Ti 800.1 which would allow me to run 1000w seperatly to each sub? I know I would lose some space having to design a rack to hold 2 amps as compared to one but I want to make sure the subs have all the power they need even when pushed hard.

Suggestions?

Its also going to take awhile to save up for since my wheels, airbag, and strut bar have to come first but I already have the Ti500.4 amp for the inside speakers so I've at least started the long journey

Hey Ghostrider,

How do you like those Phoenix Gold Ti amps?? I am trying to compare them with the JL amps. Any thoughts?

And what speakers are you running?

I have a Ti 500.4 but dont have speakers hooked up to it yet. I'm debating between MB Quart and Focals. Tough call there. I'll be running PG Ti amps all around with W7's and Alpine something. Ive heard PG compared to JL amps with identical speakers and PG did seemmore refined in sound quality. Definitly noticable in the smothn crispness of the highs.

You are running my dream system!! Update me with what you go with. But I was looking at the MB Quart QSD 213 with a 4 channel Phoenix Gold amp. Some W7 sub(s) (haven't decided on size) with either JL or PG amp. Would you think using JL amp for the sub would make them hit harder?

I have a 600.2 Titanium for sale if you want/need it. It's in Stillwater too.

I'm still debating on speakers. If I go with MB Quart it will be the QSD 216 front and back. If I go with Focal it will be the Utopia 165W all around. I've heard the Quarts in person but havn't had a chance to hear the Focals. Once I figure out what to do for Bass amps I'll finally have the picture complete. It wont be done til fall at the earliest but it will be important to have the plan ready to go.

I thought the QSD 216 wouldn't fit our car? 325i? Isn't it too deep to mount.

It should fit fine in the back. Up front I think it will be possible if mounted on the outside of the door like Pmmeke did with his Bostons. I'll buy one set at first so I can test it out before buying the other.
