Installed lightweight FW --> increased starter noise?

2004 325ci 5speed

Over the weekend I installed a 10lb jb racing aluminum flywheel mated to a clutchmasters kit (purchased all from bimmerworld). I replaced the old DMF/SAC clutch setup which was causing vibrations between 1-2k RPM.

When I start the car, the noise the starter makes is a lot more loud and metallic. Car starts right up, starter disengages fine and doesn't grind. I had a friend in the car with me yesterday who commented on how loud the starter was.

I understand that LWFW cause increased NVH, which I am fine with. If this is a function of the LWFW, I am fine with that too. I called bimmerworld and was told that this is the case. I would just like to reach out to other LWFW owners for your experience.

Thanks,
Derek

All of my experiences have been with the UUC products, single disc LTW flywheel & dual disc LTW flywheel. I've never heard or experienced what you're describing, no new noises at all concerning the starter engagement.

Good luck.
