Talking 323, The (OTHER) Forgotten 3-Series

Much love to the 328s! I thought a 323 thread would stir up memories as well! Chime in all 323 owners! I've loved mine since day one. My parents bought it new in 1999 and bought it from them 2 years later. My first BMW A great "hand-me-down." Did no mods to my car until joining this forum Now, it's got clears (man, how did I ever like the ambers) and gauge cluster rings among the small things. Nothing major. Maybe later, thanks to this forum!

Car now has only 56000+ miles. For the share of problems it has, it's still a great car! Saved our lives on the freeway once and got my parents stuck in the snow. I still get comments how it looks good from strangers and people i know, like it's a brand new car. Some even say they prefer this over the facelifted models. It's still a dream to drive every time behind the wheel. Let's hear from the other 323 owners!

i just got one! new to me way older to others haha...

my first bmw, im 20 years old and im paying for it all by myself.

fantastic little car, BUT my first two cars were both 4cyl pickup trucks, you floor it and they dont go faster just the engine gets louder LOL! So to me this car is amazingly fast, its a 5 speed so its even that much funner had it for 3 weeks and i only have ECIS intake on it, getting tint tommarow, tires the day after, and hopefully shark it when i get the money.

in my eyes the quickness of this car is under-rated by most bmw owners, i guess thats becuase i own it and feel sorry for my self ?? *(no flaming please just comments)

If not forgotten, certainly underestimated.

2000 323Ci here Got it two years ago from my neighbor. Currently it has almost 49,000 miles. Love driving it every minute but hate having to be extra careful with breyton 18s on the horrible NYC roads.

1999 Steel Blue 323i with 78k. It is decently fast, but shifting through the 5 gears is amazing. So far ive got clears, xenons, racing dynamics intake, and uuc clutch stop v2 and about 2200watt system and dynamat. This forum has given me inspiration to mod my car with much more!

Mine

Well, mine has been great.
When I got it in Virginia in September of 2000.
I remember the days when you rarely saw another E46, let alone a coupe.
No real problems, knock on wood. Has made trips up and down the East Coast, and accross the country. Now it makes its runs up to LA from SD on weekends, and hugs the road.
Maybe not as fast as a M3 (never driven one), or a 330Ci (haven't driven one either), but my cousin who could drive his Ferrari any day loves to ride in it, because "It's just smooth."
Still a looker too.
JP

revised engine and exhuast...they put down a bit more hp than we do

I love my 323, but it's too slow for my liking...got it in 2000 and didn't mod it till a year later when I got ICE.

I believe the torque between 325-323 is about the same.

Pretty much same. Same engine displacement, same acceleration. 323 is mechanical throttle, 325 is drive-by wire.
