v1 hot as ****
I am not sure how many of you encounter this but i have noticed that if i leave my car parked in the sun when i come back my valentine is so hot i cannot keep my hand on it. my question is does this cause any types of problems for v1's? Should i take my v1 down when i park? BTW my v1 is hardwired so it sits next to my rear view mirror.

its a metal case, mine gets hot down here in FL, I don't think it really causes any problems but I take mine down every time I park because it gets hot and some one might steal it - makin it real hot!

Mine has always gotten extremely hot in the summer here in the South. It's only acted up a few times that may have been due to heat, but after 7 years and between my two, my brothers, my mom's, and my friend's V1s, it should be alright.

In the manual it says not to leave it in direct sunlight, but that defeats the purpose of having it hardwired if you have to take it down all the time. I don't think it should cause any problems. I had my Escort on my windshield for years without any problems. Now my V1 is hardwired next to the mirror like the OP's.

keep it attached to your visor and out of the sun... hardwire it so it's hidden
![]() ![]() mount it up there with a visor.. not only will it not get hot but it will also be nice and hidden (nobody will break into your car and take it)

I've never really understood the need for a concealed display either, when it goes off you have to look down each time. I know it's so people don't follow you and mooch off your V1, but IMO it's not a bit deal, plus most people don't even notice it by the mirror anyways.

Dont you loose range if you keep the radar on the vizor like that??? Does it still detect from the back??
I have mine hardwired next to the rear view mirror but on the vizor it looks more hidden... Should I attach mine to the vizor?? I wanted it more hidden... |

Valentine sells a visor clip, but they recommend mounting it to the windshield so it can detect through the back window and so it can detect below the very top blue tinted portion of the windshield.
