That was my biggest gripe with the Dice unit, there was always an annoying sound, no matter what I tried, and I tried a lot of things. I was able to make it not as noticeable, but once you hear it, it is hard to un-hear it. The USA-SPEC has had perfect sound for me, I am glad I made the switch.

Yup, this is actually the HU's fault. It's how it functions when a 6-cd changer is attached.

Yes, the iPod is charged by this interface.

A year and a half ago (or so) apple switched to 5v0 charging, so if you have an old USA-Spec (or other interface) with a new iPod, there can be an issue.

Yes, but you would have to build a custom cable to convert the spec dock connector to the USA-Spec.

Sold my DICE Silverline Pro yesterday. It was great (when it worked).
Main issues:
- stupid tic tic tic tic noise ALL THE TIME. even when in radio or cd mode!
- would go completely dead after long car trips, requiring battery reset
- next/prev on steering wheel & cd deck stopped responding after long car trips, requiring battery reset

Ordered a USA-Spec PA12. Hopefully my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3 will like it.
Couple things to note:
I don't care for playlist or artist mode. I just want to select a playlist on my phone, and be able to use next/prev on my steering wheel.
I don't care for text mode. I actually like it better when it displays the time. That's possible, right?

It is able to display the clock. There is a dip switch setting to tell it not to display song text (shows the clock instead). I would have liked to toggle it with buttons on the hu, since I like to see the title or artist if some songs, but I like to see the clock 99.9% of the time, so it really isn't an issue.

Yes, you can do this as well. You have to select CD6 which releases the iPod buttons. And yes, the SW buttons will still control next/prev.

Thats good to know as well. Just saw delmarco's video. I think I'll be much happier with the USA-Spec over that piece of crap DICE. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Got mine yesterday. As you said, I'm MUCH happier now!
No static.
Steering wheel controls work great!
Got it to display the time instead of the track info.
Works great alongside my Parrot bluetooth
No charging issues with my iPhone 4
Plays music upon connecting the iPhone. No button pressing needed!
We'll see how it does on a long roadtrip in the coming weeks.

No. The only thing you would be able to do is arrange your playlists by artist prior to sync. Doesn't sound like the USA-Spec will do what you want.

I recommend following the dice trunk install posted by bavsound. It's exactly the same connections.

I also recommend leaving the complete install in the trunk. That assumes that you have a dedicated iPod for your car.

From everything I read in this thread and looking through the manual the USA Spec has to be installed into a cd changer right? I have a 2002 330i with HK but no cd changer, is there a way to install the USA Spec without creating some sort of custom connection?
