Feathered Tires

Hey guys i have a question or you.

I run a square 18" setup on my xi with Vredestin tires.

My right side tires are both feathered on the outside edge from driving at NHMS.

Should I switch them to the left side? I do plan on going to the track two more times this summer. The tires are not directional, they only have an inside and an outside.

If I do swap, id have to go front right to front left, and rear right to rear left, because one of my rear wheels is slightly bent and I dont want it on the front.

Any suggestions? Should i just leave them and keep driving? What causes the feathering?

Feathering is usually caused by too much toe positive or negative. You can check your alighnment.

Thanks. The alignment is actually good, so it's not that.

Remember it's both right side tires that are feathered on the outside edge.

I am fairly certain its from running over rumble strips at NHMS with my right side wheels.

Do you guys think i should switch them to the left side before my next track day?

That way I'll probably have 4 feathered tires, rather than just two!?

Anybody know if this is tire pressure related?

I would rotate them. That way they wear evenly so you get the most use out of them.

I had been rotating them until I slightly bent one wheel, which now resides on the back.

I guess the question is if i should swap left for right, so all my tires are feathered after I go to the track the next time?

Or leave them where they are, feather the right side tires more at the track, then put both feathered tires on the back of the car?

All four tires have about 6.5-7/32nds left.

I would get that bent wheel straightened or replaced.

Looks like you will be needing new tires soon.

Any feathering issues are caused by too low of air pressure. You can't reverse feathering effects but can minimalize it once it started by ensuring proper air pressure at all times.

Rotate them and kill them out at the track, then get some new tires...

I have the same issue as you since I have an aggressive camber and toe spec on my track car.
