Its a hell of a lot better than a .380 and a lot less complicated in a panic situation for a noobe.

It's such a low-pressure cartridge. It works, but I was commenting on the "stop them dead in their tracks" thing. The .38 is not know to have the same devastating crippling effects or "knock-down power" as the .45 or .357.
