so whats the update on this project.
it seems like you fit the LSD into the e46 diff shell...
Is it ready to go for a test or do you still need to do more custom work to fit it in properly ??

i still need to grind more so i could get the ring gear in there.

I have the the next few days off to prep for a track day sunday, so if i find some extra time in between i'll work on it some more and get the ring gear in there.

Can't you put them in separately, and then bolt them up so you don't have to grind more?

i guess i could technically. it'd take a lot more work because it's pretty hard to get the ring gear down to that mounting surface. i use the impact to pull the gear up to the mounting surface. and before i do that i use a hammer, to hammer it down into place.

it shouldn't be much more that i'd need to grind down. hmm maybe i'll do some work in a few minujtes.

Okay, i have a tiny bit of information.

So a friend of mine talked a diff shop, the guys i was originally going to send my diff out to. They are a pretty well known diff company on bfc. He told them what i was what i was doing, and they actually said that's how they do their e46 diffs aswell. they grind out the housing to fit diffs in there, so they could do custom diffs. As far as the bearing issue, and shimming it out. they told my friend that i'd need a special cnc plate to make it work well.

I don't mean to tease you guys, but i haven't talked to the shop personally just yet. I'm going to try and get out there next week sometime. I just wanted to keep you guys updated with every bit of information i have.
