Put the car on the dyno

so recently i have had my little beater on the dyno so much (1993 turbo eclipse) they shop owner said i could dyno the //m for free cause we have made so much progress with the dsm.

i only have a k&n filter and magna flow exhaust and made 297.3 hp we used a dynapack 3000 dyno

i was pretty happy i think that great for a pretty much stock car i was expecting 270ish

now i just have to take it to the dealer cause i threw a check engine light lol

i dont have a scanner but i work on getting a printout up

Nice numbers. What did you put down with the dsm? fwd or awd? what turbo? I dyno'd 319 awd with a 14b on a dynojet.

is that 297whp corrected? I dyno'd stock at 270whp SAE corrected and i very doubt you get almost 30whp from a filter and muffler.
SAE corrected would probably drop you down to the 270 range.

i am not sure i know they pluged in some numbers for gear ratio and a few other things i have to check on that. i rly dont care about the hp the car is very fun to drive and i do not have to worry about it breaking.

The dsm is awd i am hoping for 400whp working on a few timing bugs atm will have it done buy the spring
here is a link to the turbohttp://store.forcedperformance.net/m...Code=DSM-Turbo

A friend of mine used to run a green. I miss having my awd with a Holset HX40 27psi sucking down 100.

Did those guys hook your m3 up to a gt1 to dyno it?

No, had to play with the dsc button to get it to rev over 6k, had a cel after but it was fixed already

o0 27psi nice, race gas? water injection? atm i am getting knock over 23psi on pump gas so i am thinking of going water injection dunno yet, i rly dont want to put race gas in it everytime i run it too $$

I'm hoping a shop here in the northeast does a dyno day this season that actually has a gt1 so us e46 guys can dyno without playing with the dsc button.

I ran 100LL in the old dsm. I would knock 1-3 counts at 24-25# above 6k rpm. Besides busting axles and trannies, I never had a problem with it.

Do you have any sound clips of the magnaflow exhaust? I'm wondering what it sounds like with headers. I'm gonna be putting on my headers in a couple weeks once I start driving my car again...

Mills84, did you ever get the headers done? Did you end up getting the Magnaflow exhaust as well?

Dyno's really arent good for car to car comparisons... unless you put a car on the same dyno same day same calibration. There are so many settings to be used for a dyno. When I did mine I think it was 265hp on a Mustang Dyno. The guy at the shop told me I should really only be using dyno numbers to compare my car vs my car (since they save the settings). And to prove it, he changed one number a tiny bit.... Dyno said i was putting down 170hp.

As mentioned above, I also doubt a K&N drop in + exhaust = 30hp. Take dyno numbers with a grain of salt.
