P54 Intake

Hi,

I've seen that there are some people that have great interest of the P54 Intake.

I am lucky to be a owner of this intake myself, So I'll post some pictures of mine shortly today.

My plan is to use it on a M54B30 sitting in a BMW 330Ci E46, Inspired by Pei330ci.

//Jimmy

how the hell did you get it, for starters.

and that looks so similar to the DTM intakes on the 16v 190e's but with 6 runners instead of 4....

this doesn't utilize individual throttle bodies does it? Just the runners? And the Throttle body goes on the end? Am I correct in this?

It is a BMW Motorsport piece that is used on their WTC engines back in time when they used 6 cylinder engines.

The price 2003 from BMW Motorsport was about 85.000 SEK. (This is what I've been told)

This intake is modified with new injector bungs close to M54 OEM intake positions. And also for a 69mm throttle body, instead for the 63mm used in WTC.

Hold de fone...

Jebus Christos!!!

OK... I consider myself pretty freaking knowledgeable about this stuff, but I must have been snoozing on the day that the memo came out about that thing!

I want one... I don't care what engine it was designed for!!! I'll make it fit!

Gimme... Gimme... Gimme...

Finally!!

Welcome to the board Jimmy!

All,

Jimmy is the real deal.

Regarding the price, that is only half of the BMW Motorsport induction system for the E46 WTCC car. There is also an ram-air/filter system that this mates up to. I think price for it is in the $4k area.

If you wanted to "cheap out" on the ram-air system, I believe that the front part of the P52 system might be made to work.

A P54B20 engine gained 15hp and 30nm torque using this intake.

But using this intake to a stock M54, I would guess both HP and torque would drop.

There are a number of things that will decide how a intake should look with volumes, areas and lengths. Like what camshafts are used, compression ratio, RPM and much more.

This intake are made for a 2l Engine with cam durations high above 300...
322 degrees intake and 317 degrees exhaust, I think.

It's definitely not a low-rpm intake. It's design for a usage in between 6000-9000rpm. And an Idle speed at 4000rpm.

Here is the funny thing.

This is near a perfect match to my 3.0L engine.

If buying it brand new from BMW Motorsport, $4k wont even give you a half intake. I'm guessing about $10,000 for the complete intake system.
