That so-called terrible barrel also produced better groups than any of my colts.

It's certainly no Noveske, but it's a much better option than going out and buying a cheap no-name AR or something from a hokey online vendor like DS Arms.

I am getting Remington LE armorer certs in the near future, and when I do I will get a certificate to buy one Remington firearm for manufacturer cost. I have been trying to decide what to get with it. Any thoughts on the Remington 1911R1 pistols?

For a basic entry rifle for either a beginner, or for someone more skilled who wants a trainer rifle or spare throw-around rifle, it's a good option. I would consider buying one for a younger shooter or the wifey. Otherwise, if you have one AR but don't have a ton of money and want a backup for training or long range trips/outings, it'd be a good option.
The benefit is that you have the ability to outfit it just like any other rifle, so that while you slap on quality components like a grip, rail, optic, stock, etc, your base rifle still didn't cost you an arm and a leg.

R1 is on the upper end of entry level. I'd approve of one.

I am going to wait to see what all is out when I get the certificate, but the short list is:

1911R1 Enhanced

700 SPS Tactical Threaded Muzzle .308 (16.5" barrel, 1:10 twist)

700 XCR Tactical Long Range .338Lapua

Threaded .308 and I can sell you a .308 silencer. Sub sonic ammo through a bolt gun is incredible.

Mucho illegal here.
It's on the docket with some legislators, but everything got put on the backburner because of the last attempt at gun control/magazine control legislation.

For actual used parts, AR15.com ("Arfcom") and M4carbine.net are pretty good. Both are a mixed blessing for information, but for parts they're excellent. If you want precision rifle stuff, SnipersHide.com the best place to go.

Nosler has officially purchased Silver State Armory, and the deal is officially complete. Sounds like some good things are on the horizon for the 6.8 SPC-II cartridge. If they can ramp up production like they are planning to, the price of 6.8 could tumble. That would be excellent. I have intention to get a 6.8 AR at some point in the future.

I don't do a lot of selling or trading, so I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out. What is the current value of an M&P 9mm Range Kit? It's very lightly used, and comes with all of the factory accessories (mags, holster, etc). It also has the stippled FDE backstrap, baseplat, and mag release.

I would rather have a Glock 17 or another Glock 19.

I'm sure I could research this, but what's the advantage of a 6.8 over a 300blk?

Should be a fair trade

$250...whats your paypal address ill send the money now

You might be better off selling the gun + 1 mag and selling the other 2 mags separately...they are going for $50-80 a mag.

then you could probably sell the gun + 1 mag for $400 pretty easily i would think. and $125ish for the 2 mags, would get you enough to buy a brand new 19. Just more work that way though.

Long story short, the 6.8 is ballistically superior.

.300BLK is a short-range round. It was designed for suppressed sub-sonic use to replace 9mm HK MP5SD and 4.6mm HK MP7A1 suppressed subguns. The load was also developed to offer a 7.62x39 in an AR platform, so it's good in SBR form. Like the 7.62x39, it's got limited range and sputters out pretty quickly past 100yds subsonic, and beyond 300-400yds supersonic.
In contrast, the 6.8 has more energy out of anything at 12.5" or longer barrels (for most loads), and it is a ballistically superior load for long range. It's better than any 5.56 load for long range precision and kill shots. The 140gr Berger VLD load offered by Silver State Armory is a true 1000yd load, and the new ATK/Federal XM68GD 90gr load is optimized for LE use and for use in the 8" LWRC UCIW SIX8.
Until a .300BLK load is developed that meets FBI ballistic standards, I suspect that my next AR will likely be a 6.8.
