Random Gun talk Thread..

Anyone else find non-residential CHL's kinda odd? I live in Texas and I'm taking the CHL and its for Virginia. Apparently it covers I believe 29 States.. But I can carry any of my guns.

Multi-state CHL/PTC/CCW is stupid. Simply because we should have full national reciprocity by now.

In the end, it just made sense. For me it's all about function and utility.

Well, it still has to look good too.

Exactly...you are going to be waiting anyway. You might as well submit both forms at the same time.

I'm in upstate New York for a month and feel totally neutered...no pistols, ARs, AKs, suppressors...ugh!

All I've got here is my lever action marlin, a .22-250 rem 700, and a few pump shotguns. Fuck NY

Went to the range yesterday and met up with a friend of a friend who bought a DPMS AR at the beginning of the panic. Taught him some things, allowed him to see some reasons why DPMS is not as great of company as the gun counter guy told him, and then showed him how to load and shoot it safely.
While there, I shot some rounds out of an M&P Shield 9mm. A deputy buddy of mine got it and has been hitting consistently low at all ranges, so he thinks the sights are wack or the gun is off. He's a decent shot, so I'm thinking that maybe there is something to the issue. So, he gave me the gun for a week and I put some rounds downrange. So, my overall impression is that I really didn't care for the Shield. The grip is just too bulky. The grip is thin, but the backstrap bulges too far to the rear. It just didn't feel good in my hand. The trigger was atrocious. The APEX trigger kit would do wonders I'm sure.
Anyway, I shot it and it hit right where I wanted it to. It was plenty accurate and I wasn't hitting low. So, I think it's a matter of my buddy needing to get used to the grip and the trigger. I found that it was very hard to get a smooth trigger press with that trigger.

In the end, I'd rather have a Kahr CM9 or CW9. Just my own opinion. Didn't think I'd dislike the Shield, but I just couldn't like it.

My sister has one and I didn't think it was that bad. PSA actually had them yesterday for like $359, which I thought was an absolute steal. For a really small gun, I have a P938 though

My Ride: What else?
My only criticism for the Shield is the super small Safety button.....I don't have an issue with manual safeties, I just think this one is a half ass attempt.

I can never get a consistent disengagement from the draw

Bulky grip actually works for me because I have pretty large hands (usually have to add a Hogue grip to my single stacks)

Northtech Defense just came out with their new Upper, my buddy is sponsored by them for shooting competitions and he had some input into the design although I don't know how significant his contribution was. Don't know much about how they compare to the other companies as they're pretty new.
