Awesome! Mega is a good company to go with. They tend to have exceptional quality control on their components.

Ordered my first gun belt a few days ago - Dual layer bull hide with internal stiffener. Should have it in about a month. I hear nothing but good things about them.

An excellent buy as well. I have stiffened tactical belts that I use and love. I have yet to buy a stiffened and reinforced casual leather gun belt, but I know I really should. Keep us up to date when you get it and how you like it.

Yep, I'll post back once I've taken it out on the town a few times. At $96, it was a little pricey IMHO, but if it does its job it will be worth every penny.
What sort of tac belts do you like / recommend? I've thought of picking one up, but I always wear leather at the moment.

For a rigger-style belt, I like the VTAC Cobra Belt. I currently use the Blackhawk Instructor's Gun Belt the most, as it has kydex stiffeners inserted to make it extremely stiff for carrying a drop-leg holster. I have slowly started to dislike Blackhawk, and I think a lot of their products are really out-dated and they are having a tough time competing with the other tactical designers/manufacturers. Blackhawk started out as a very legit company, and now they're become so commercialized that they're almost considered a mall ninja and weekend warrior outfitter. The other companies out there like Mayflower R&C, Velocity Systems, TYR Tactical, Crye Precision, 215 Gear, HSGI, etc. are starting to come up as more "insider" companies. I wish the Blackhawk belt had the Cobra buckle, which is a lot more convenient to use (especially with War Belt configurations), but the kydex stiffener is a great feature and something that you don't see much with other belts. So, not an entirely bad product.

Played with an M&P45 yesterday. I didn't get to shoot it, but I did get to put on the small grip and I could hold it. I was very impressed with it. Looks like I will be getting myself one. I just don't know if I want the 4.5" or the 4" barrel version.

Have you shot any M&P before? If not, make sure you take note of the trigger as they are rather horrid, but the rest of the pistol is built well. Trigger job is mandatory and you have a great pistol.

I have to shoot it to see. Still haven't gotten around to it. I think that I will likely be going with the APEX Hard Sear and DCAEK Trigger upgrades if I get the M&P.

Are all LPK(decent brands DD, RRA, Spikes, LWRC etc) Pretty equal? I'm trying to decide on what LPK to buy?
BTW been waiting 2 months for this thing to come in stock and finally came in today on a different site so I ordered it ASAP and should hopefully be at my FFL next week. S&W M&P 15-22 MOE FDE |

Given that you're looking into the Spike's trigger anyways, I would recommend getting their Enhanced LPK. Spikes has their own parts and don't rebrand others, and they have good quality. I would recommend getting something other than the ERGO grip, though. I bet you could talk to them and see if you could get the kit sans the grip for a discount. Or you can get it with the ERGO grip- your choice. BTW-nice M&P15-22. I'm up in the air about it. I prefer longer barrels, but shorter is nice for a bedside gun. I'll have to handle and shoot both and see how I feel about it.

Well, if you like the ERGO, go with that. I personally don't like it, but that's just my thing. Everyone is different. The Magpul MIAD is the most popular and modular grip on the market. It can be set up in several configurations. I really like the modularity of it and find it to be a good all-around grip. I recently tried the TangoDown Battle Grip, and although it's not a modular grip, it is very comfortable and I really like it. There are grips galore and the sky is the limit.

I put the Ergo grip on my 15-22, but I put a Magpul on my AR. I like the Magpul better.

Okay, random question for the random gun talk thread.
Does anyone know if Aluma Black will darken the etched portion of these?

My Troy BUIS on my 11.5" are actually off of an LWRC, and I did a swap for them on SnipersHide.com. I tried the alumablack, and it didn't do much. So, I took my Dremel and I ground off the LWRC etching and all the coating off the front slab of the sight. I treated the whole thing that way. If you use Aluma Black and you want a good trick to make it work better, I have two good tips. Degrease and use heat. We actually tested this back in my Advanced Armorer training, and found out how much better it worked. You get a more consistent and darker shade of black when you do it this way. -Make sure metal surface is down to the bare metal, and is smooth -Make sure metal surface is actually aluminum (otherwise use liquid Perma Blue) -Use a degreaser like Gun Scrubber or carb/brake cleaner on the surface -Once dry, use a propane torch to heat the surface, and then quickly wipe off any liquid that bleeds out of the metal -Use torch again to get the surface of the metal hot -Don't burn yourself like I did -Apply Aluma Black with a clean Q-tip and rub it on back and forth -Heat the surface and repeat the application again -Done!
