If it is cracking in this area:
.hmmmm...looks like the spot i circled isn't showing up....anyway its the spot on the upper left corner of the vent window...where it starts curving..the other trim piece that the guy above me mentions only fixes the gasket for the underside of the the windows...to replace the gasket on the corner you have to buy the piece i mention below. Then you are going to need to buy a whole new trim piece (number 15 in this piece): ![]() Here are the details about that...its a pricey item: 15 Finisher, side frame left SCHWARZ 1 12/1999 51717003935 $233.24 15 Finisher, side frame right SCHWARZ 1 12/1999 51717003936 $233.24 15 Finisher, side frame left CHROM 1 12/1999 51717003937 $233.24 15 Finisher, side frame right CHROM 1 12/1999 51717003938 $233.24 Hope that helps.

Yea, the gasket is attached to the chrome piece. So in order to get a new gasket you need a new chrome piece. Blows doesn't it? If the cracking isn't that bad/you can live with it/no water intrusion i would say leave it. Its an expensive piece and not the easiest diy. If you do need to buy the part let me suggest tischerbmw at getbmwparts.com they offer 20-35% off msrp

Jeesus, how gay is that. K well im not buyin that so im gonna go ahead and find my own gasket and do it myself. Im guessing 3 bux in parts max. one hour labour. I know some one did it with bike tire tubing. Ill see if i can improve upon that and then post a diy for it. Someone should create a replacement packega and sell em. Maybe i will

I got it from Tischer www.getbmwparts.com
Actually, it cost more than I thought. 08 Gasket, railing left CHROM 1 51368227685 $44.08 08 Gasket, railing right CHROM 1 51368227686 $44.08 It's number 08 in the pictures above. I got to warn you though, it's not easy to clean up all the adhesive foam residue from the old chrome gasket. It's a PITA. Lots of Goo Gone!!! The new pieces already have a foam adhesive, you just peel it off and stick it in place.
