Glad it worked out for you, man!

Are you using the values he gave on the first page?

Looks like I'll be joining the LC-1 club
  • Where are you guys stowing the resistors? They get real hot right? Is it possible/advisable to put them under the car rather than under the hood?
  • Any idea what the AWG's of these wires under the DME are?:

I have mine mounted in the drug bin, thermal pasted to a piece of aluminum. I also have an aluminum heatsink thermal pasted on them as well.

(This is overkill)

No.... I've been meaning to take some good pics of what I've done and upload it this thread - it just hasn't happened.

I'm thinking about these since they're built into heat sinks:

More expensive but one less thing to deal with during install...plus it says they're "make sure long time for your daily use"

turns out w/ the TT tune on MS45.1 some monitors are disabled(?), but the tune basically prevents an SES light being triggered for them

Nick tried a few approaches to get them all "ready" but no luck...

Sounds like he ran into the same issue as Asbjorn did with the ESS header tune. Glad you've got the LC-1 as a fallback.

Interesting. Did AA just decide "F-it, we're getting to the bottom of this?" or does their header tune only work within NA parameters?

Don't know about AA. Does anyone with the MS45.1 DME actually have the AA header tune that actually runs it on the street and has to pass an inspection (without "tipping" the inspector)? I thought I heard that someone from Siemens had told Asbjorn that it wasn't possible to turn off the post cat O2s and have the monitors indicate "ready" on MS45.1 but I've always assumed that ESS was simply trying to stay on the EPA's good side.

SpeedDemon, who has MS45.1 and Ceramic Coated Supersprint Replica Headers, implied success with these posts, spaced 4 months apart:

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=682253#3
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=713645#14

although he doesn't explicitly mention passing emissions...nor do I know how rigorous the testing is in Seattle...

Some places allow for a certain number of monitors to be in the "not ready" state.

Update: Fwiw, Nick's approaches might've worked better if my connections were good. While installing the LC-1 I discovered that a couple of the 'Posi-Seal' connectors I used under the car had let go a bit - one was very loose. The 'Posi-Seal' connectors' sealing material appears to deform slightly with time (and/or heat?), lessening the crush force on the wire. It should be noted that all the normal 'Posi-Lock' connectors I used were still nice and tight.

I passed! All monitors set to ready on a TT turbo MS45.1 The evap was the last hold out and it finally seemed to be cleared by idling in gear from a cold start for a few minutes, then driving below 3K RPMs to a school parking lot, then idling in gear for a few more minutes. I used the above mentioned resistors and also posi lock connections throughout (so no soldering). Also used posi-taps to avoid any cutting/splicing. The LC-1 was configured just as shown by F1004fun, and wired just as in lkstaack's diagram earlier in the thread. The only confusing thing was Innovate's description for wiring LC-1's status LED.

Congratulations! Does your state have a visual inspection requirement? How did it pass with the air cleaner relocated?
