Also did a 5th gear pull just for kicks. 232.30/221.19

I'm happy enough. He's emailing me the runfiles in the morning, I'll post then along with the vid. A/F was perfect, basically identical to last time. The gain was all from 5000 up. Smooth power delivery. I love the way the car sounds. Very happy. Hoping some tuning will net a tad more power. I'm still interested in a bigger throttle body and intake, too.

Thanks for the support!
Those are great #s, and there is some VERY useful information in what you've already posted!

I made 222rwtq with those cams, but you have a drop-in air filter, and I had the Conforti CAI. It also could be that the larger primary pipes on the Gen3 Technik headers have lost you some torque, and gained a little bit of top end versus the Gen2 Technik headers I had on at the time. There are obviously still some variables in play...but those are fantastic results from your engine. Congrats!

Brady you should just take your TB and bore it out a bit more.
Brady's engine actually has more torque at lower RPMs than an M3....which makes it more fun on the street IMO.

I don't have any direct experience with a bore'd out TB, but I suspect Brady may be able to shed some light on that further down the road.

Yeah that would be a pretty cool project doing the TB, I just dont know how he would make the flap bigger on the inside. I'm lucky I got my hands on a Dinan one off Neil back in the day, its a nice little improvement.

That is a worth-while gain, IMO. What does the butt dyno read??

Wait for the dyno plot.

It's possible to have a peak show up on the dyno, that doesn't represent the entire powerband of the engine. Also, RPM can affect things a lot. I know of a certain M54B30 race engine that made just over 220wtq at peak power...doesn't seem like much until you find out what RPM it was at. The engine made 348whp N/A.....

As a general rule of thumb, you are doing really good to make 85lb/ft per liter of displacement. Move the RPM around, and the hp number can get pretty big...like in F1. Those engines make in the area of 80 lb/ft per liter of displacement at 19,000 RPM.

Brady - CONGRATS! That's a pretty good gain. Let's see what a tune can do.

Like Adam said, the number doesn't tell the whole story. I'm still waiting on the runfiles, but I gained torque from almost 5000 all the way up to redline.

Video is uploading. Excuse the editing. I just used the Flip software. Sound is decent. It shows all 3 pulls. First 2 are 4th gear, 3rd is 5th gear.

I have jury duty this morning, but I'm hoping to have the runfiles by the time I get back to the office. I'll post the graphs as soon as I can.

Edit: Video removed. I'll upload it again. Sound quality was horrible.

Let's try this again:

Wow, sound quality is still really bad. That sucks.

Uploading to my own server, not Youtube. Maybe it'll preserve the sound a bit...

Sound quality is a little iffy, but is great between seconds 30-45 on the video! In for Dyno Charts!

Okay, much better:

I uploaded directly through Youtube instead of using the Flip software.

On another note, I finally pulled my pictures from my camera. Most didn't turn out. A cold front came in that night and my lens fogged up. I may try to post a few, though.

I may be buying a spare head, soon, after I get some things paid off. If so, I may attempt to do a DIY.

Nice,

I'm quite happy to see the comparison. Negligible loss in the low end, but quite a substantial gain between 6k and 7k.

Congrads buddy

Hopefully I can get a vendor interested in supporting a group buy. I think enough people are subscribed to this thread who would jump on it after seeing your write-up.

Vendors?

I think it's more of a shift than a loss. From driving the car, there's definitely no feeling of loss

Thanks!
