As far as I know, it's just a noise thing. I don't believe there's any performance loss. I just like to be able to hear my engine purring.

Oh, and no real update. Waiting for some cash for before/after dyno, new pre-cat O2s, spark plugs, a few misc parts, and for the vanos tools.

I just got a pair of precat O2 sensors for $140 from ebay. They were Bosch 13477 with the connectors. The wires are only about 12" long so I'm not sure if they will be long enough.

Autohaus has them for $59 each, shipped. If they're not long enough, I'll just splice them in. Beats paying for BMW sensors (and Bosch confirmed that the sensor itself is identical).

Just waiting on some cash for dyno and parts, and for the vanos tools. Birthday is coming up, hoping to get a few bucks for my before dyno. I'm really excited.

I wish. Still waiting on the vanos tool. I ordered a new valve cover gasket and vanos cover gasket yesterday. Just need to order a new upper chain and tensioner and get the tools in-hand. And then find a few bucks for a couple dynos. Anyone want to donate?

I'm borrowing from a Fanatic. He's doing a project right now and needs them. He's supposed to send them soon.
