Pick My Next Scope

My Springfield M1A Loaded ERC finally came in and I'm going to be picking it up on Monday. I have my J. Allen Enterprises JAE-100 stock ready to install. Now all I need to do is decide on a scope.
The whole top of the rifle is a flat Picatinny surface, so I am torn between a larger objective lens for higher light transmission and a smaller objective that will allow the scope to be mounted lower on the weapon. I have an adjustable cheek piece that will accommodate both, so it's a hard debate.

The Contenders:

Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 3.5-10x40 M1 Illuminated Mil-Dot
$1229

Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 4.5-14x50 M1 Illuminated Mil-Dot
$1329

NightForce NXS Compact 2.5-10x32 Illuminated Mil-Dot
$1291

Trijicon AccuPoint 5-20x50mm Dual-Illumination Mil-Dot
$1200

What is the purpose of the scope? Target (if so what range), hunting, competition, actual LE/military work? Of those the trijicon would be my last choice with my first being nightforce and second being the 4.5-10x Leupold. THe large objective is nice if you are shooting far distance or low light conditions such as dusk or dawn. I personally would go with a larger objective nightforce. Whats ur price point limit? Also, what type of support will you be shooting this from? Bipod + rear bag, sling, sandbags, combination?

btw...excellent choice on the JAE-100...i love that stock almost as much as my AICS

The primary usage will be target. I will be doing some limited 3-Gun competition with it as well (most people use .308 AR's for the long range ones). There will also be limited hunting done with it for deer if I deem necessary.
Also, it will come in handy if the zombies come, or in a Red Dawn scenario.

My budget would be under $1500, but I'd like too keep it as low as possible while still having a great optic. This is why I'm not buying a Leupold Mark 2 or Nikon.

The Leupold options are self explanatory
The NightForce I'm curious about since I've heard great things. Problem is that the really high magnification is not needed, and the 56mm objective lens that many of them have lifts that scope pretty high of the rifle.
The Trijicon actually has amazing clarity. I was dumbfounded the first time I looked through an AccuPoint. It was actually brighter than a Leupold. And being Trijicon, we know they can take a pounding. The 5-20x50 is the only one with target turrets, which kind of annoys me. I have considered an ACOG, but I don't want to limit myself to one magnification. I also have special pricing with Trijicons.

The JAE-100G2 stock is just amazing. Seeing pictures of it still didn't do it justice. When I first held it, I was blown away.

Is a 75mm objective lens really necessary?

Also, I wouldn't touch ATN day optics with a 10 foot pole.

I don't very much about scopes, but I have an ACOG and love it so I don't think you could go wrong with the Trijicon.

My ACOG continues to amaze me too. The clarity of Trijicon optics makes them a real winner.

a 75mm objective signifies the lack of quality optics, so rather than smaller lens with excellent light gathering they compensate with large diameter lenses.

SH*T!!!

I just signed a purchase agreement for a new house. An opportunity arose for a VERY nice house that was being sold VERY low, and I took it. My current house is a sh*thole, so it wasn't a hard decision. I can afford the payment, along with the payment for my M.

Problem is, the house has no fence, I have two large dogs, and I can't afford both a fence and a rifle at the moment.

I have yet to pick up my M1A that is sitting in the vault at my dealer. I was supposed to pick it up today. I went over my finances, and I can't swing the extra dough. I have plenty of room on the credit card, but I'm a month away from paying that sucker off.

I have no money down on the rifle, and I'm debating just letting it sit at the dealer until someone buys it or until my finances work out. That won't be for a while. So right now, I'm debating just ditching the M1A build idea for another year and selling my JAE-100 G2 stock. Just wait it out and deal with it next year.

Thoughts? Anyone?

Obviously, the scope option is off the table for a while.

A house is a better investment than a scope / rifle. Get the rifle and scope once you are comfortable otherwise. Personally, I can't fully enjoy something unless I know it is fully paid for

That looks similar to the Magpul UBR (though I know it's not that one).

The Magpul PRS stock is better anyway, IMO.

I know, same here. I'm selling my JAE-100 G2 stock on Craigslist right now. I'm just going to pay this stuff off and worry about a new gun later on. This kinda sucks, but it's the best option.

PRS is great, I have it on my SPR, but for a carbine, the other one looks light and easy to use. PRS involves too much twisting and rubbing lol.
