Is my friend correct on this theory...
He is heavy into religion. I am not. I have nothing against religion, religion is great. It brings people together, it gives people a reason to follow basic moral concepts and guidelines to live there life by, which are for the most part helpful and positive. It may introduce you to new friends, maybe a future wife/husband.
On the other hand, how many wars have been because of religion? If religion existed would there have been the attacks on sept 11th? umm...no, never. So you can't disagree that there are both +'s and -'s. SO on to the question. I told my friend that i believe in evolution, we simply evolved. And the world was created off some sort of big bang theory of sorts. He says that the scientific odds of the world being created "scientifically", and not by a higher power are somewhere along the lines of a tornado going through a junk yard and a car being put together as all the parts are being whipped around. true?

Intelligent Design is devoid of any value because it cannot be proved nor disproved, unlike evolution which is a theory but has evidence.

you're friend needs to get off kirk camerons sack. He said the same thing about the pieces of a clock. He obviously doesn't understand the first thing about evolution.

If the odds of things being created the way science says are so minuscule, exactly how do you calculate the odds that a higher power did it?

Every single religious argument is like that. That is why I do not argue with with religious people, they always have God on their side apparently. How teh fvck am I supposed to win?

I believe in God, and that He created everything. But that's just what I believe, have no way of proving we're all apes or we're all decendants of Adam and Eve. Just a belief.

just throwing this out there, because it needs to be said, you cannot be "correct" on "theory."
This is why it is THEORY and not TRUTH |

is this the most intelligent f2b thread ever? But yeah man, you can't be rational with the irrational, it just doesn't work. The tornado argument is actually called Hoyle's fallacy. Tell your friend that his false analogy is crap because it orginallly dealt with abiogenesis, not evolution. Know thy enemy good sir.

half of em dont knwo a fukin thing about what theyre saying, and at the end of the day theyre going on their faith in their God.
Sometimes they cant answer all the questions, they throw some BS answer at you. while i consider myself a religious person, i knwo why i believe what i believe, but i dont have all the answers, so i wont ever try to shove it down anyone's throat. and i hate those that do. Thats why i havemt gone to church in years, cause they're all fukin hypocrites and fools, most of em. |

Think about it, if religion really is fake it should be abolished as soon as possible.
Check out the 4 horsemen on youtube, Dawkins, Dennett, Hitchens and Harris

Stephen Hawking in A Brief History of Time states, "A theory is a good theory if it satisfies two requirements: It must accurately describe a large class of observations on the basis of a model that contains only a few arbitrary elements, and it must make definite predictions about the results of future observations." He goes on to state, "Any physical theory is always provisional, in the sense that it is only a hypothesis; you can never prove it. No matter how many times the results of experiments agree with some theory, you can never be sure that the next time the result will not contradict the theory. On the other hand, you can disprove a theory by finding even a single observation that disagrees with the predictions of the theory.
