Your ears are a perfect example. In your ears there are little hairs. When a sound wave comes in contact with the ear, it is funneled into the ear, where a series of mechanical movements create (almost like dominos) creates a shifting of the base of these hairs cells, moving them back and forth. The rocking of these hair cells, somehow, through a series of protein channel openings on the membranes of each cell connecting the ear to the brain, allow the brain to interpret this forward/backward movement of hair cells as sound. The wierd thing is, I just made it sound so much simpler than it really is, and with that, its hard to believe this was a random act of evolution, especially considering the thousands of similar functions that happen in the human body. I think many people use religion as an excuse to carry out their own selfish ambitions. But in all honesty, it doesn't matter what you call yourself- jew, christian, muslim. If you dont act on your religion (ie: If youre a christian and you dont act like Christ), than the only thing you are is a hypocrite. Unfortunately we all **** up now or later. |

There is no point in winning. Either you believe or you dont. Its not the religous persons right to judge you. You are a grown man capable of making your own decisions, and if the good lord calls you one day, you will know it. And as a grown man, I hope you arent always constantly trying to "Stick it to him," about how weird religion can be. Trust me, we already know how weird it can be. It all comes down to respecting and understanding of each other.

I fvcking hate this example. It's such a cop-out. It's like saying "look at the computer... there's no way a man could create such a complex object... it must be alien!" Of course that would be an easy explanation for someone looking at a computer for the first time, but once you take a look at the history of the first circuits and subsequently microchips, it's not quite so hard to understand.
What I'm getting at is, the ear, eye, tongue and nose may appear to be extremely complex, but they're nothing more than simple data receptors that evolved to suit various circumstances better over time based on external stimulus. |

People mold religion into what they want. The overall story of religion is love God and love each other, when you deviate from this, you deviate from religion.

Just because something useful is there doesn't mean a mind had to be behind it... the body adapts... long-term exposure creates permanent change and thus is passed down to the next generation. This is evolution in a nutshell. Even with the existence of a god I find the idea that he has to have a hand in everything a bit pretentious.
