SCCA requires that the roof be of the same material. Metal. Correct me if Im wrong here. Got to thinking on the fabrication. Using a body man's profile gauge, transfer the glass sun roof profile to multiple wood bucks and build a mock up to form (bend ie beat) a piece of 16 gu steel to. Then cut to final fitment and hold in place with butt weld clamps, tack in place carefully to avoid warping. Small bit of filler to hide imperfections. I've seen craftsman fabricate difficult body work on old cars is a similar fashion. Why wouldn't it work here? The bends are not that difficult.

Did some more homework. BMW sheet metal is probably going to be 22-24 ga. That's hard to butt weld without blowing thru. Will mic it and report back.
