Mine was stuck on like a mother. Not wanting to break it I just hit it with the palm of my hand, ever so slightly harder and harder, hoping to christ that I didn't shatter it. Luckily it eventually came off without breaking. But it was a ***** for sure. Had to hit it pretty damn hard.

Rent a 3-jaw gear puller from Autozone and remove it the correct way.

We also tried soaking with WD-40 but it didn't help. I have never found WD-40 to be a good penetrating oil (it is a good light lubricating oil). We switched to PB Blaster and it came right off after a few minutes of soaking. Liquid Wrench will probably also work better than WD-40.
