Question 16:9 navigation display monitor removal

My 2005 M3 in dash Nav. display monitor is not funcitoning. I have steering wheel controls to change preset radio stations. I also have dice ipod hooked up to aux. input in trunk. For several months the screen has not been functioning properly and just recently went blank. Fuses check out okay and battery has been disconnected with no fix. I found a replacement monitor display but cannot figure out how to get it off without taking out the whole unit. The display is the one that slides down and has the CD behind it. I have searched everywhere for removal instructions/vid. and nothing. Can anyone help me??

If you find a solution to this i'd be interested to know. My screen has dark patches where the LCD cells have burst or failed. Whole unit works 100% except the display. I too have the dice ipod connection. I doubt this has anything to do with it but interesting nontheless.

I have been told by dealer that it requires a complete new unit - no suprise there. Let me know if you can replace the screen!

I just had a monitor ordeal myself. Had to replace mine. Mine was the opposite tho. The screen was fine, but the electronics in the head unit were boffed. It looked like the previous owner (or more likely her kids) jammed something in the CD drive. Anyway, I found monitors by themselves on ebay. As a mattaer of fact, it looks like they might me available from a dealer?

Anyway, to remove it, just pull the trim pieces (middle and right), pull the middle a/c vent (toward you and up) and take out the 2 screws that hold it in. There are threads in the electronics forum that go into more detail on removal. That's where I went for instructions.

Oh no, I'm not saying go pay retail. Just stating that the screen by itself looks to be available. Then you can check ebay, etc.
