sealed or vented ? - which gives deeper bass ?

12 w7 will be the speaker with a subzone enclosure... just have to decide between the sealed or the vented box.

Sealed = Tight bass, not as loud.
Vented = Louder, sloppier bass.

naw man go sealed, my boy has a vented box and it is really loud, but like chocaine said, it will be sloppy

it sounds better with the sealed clean crisp hitting bass then jus vented thats loud and just BOOM BOOM

you can rattle another cars mirrors or set off alarms with a sealed box too

i remember my first system set up of the 1507 alpine amp, 2 alpine Type-s's ina sealed mtx box, HIT HARD not even as hard as my current set up

im sellin that amp if anyones interested by the way lol my old for sale threads got lost

good luck in what you decide

I'd say it depends on the mids you are running inside the car. If they give you the kick you want, go with a ported enclosure through the rear deck, which will sound phenominal when tuned properly

Ported bass does not = sloppy. If you build a ported box it will go lower than the same sealed box with same power. If you tune your box with and f3 of 32hz and play 20hz tone then of course itll sound retarded cus your below its passband. Build a nice big ported box with a tuning of 18hz and you'll see how loud and deep ported can get.

nope, get a custom enclosure, they shouldn't cost more than 200.

PLEASE get a custom box made for that sub. 12w7 in a vented enclosure off a 500.1 will ****ing pound, but the box has to be made for the woofer. Don't buy some prefab box. Spend th emoney it will be worth it. You may pay more than 200 for a vented enclosure for a 12w7 though. Unless it's really really plain.
