Help help

Hi my 2001 bmw 318 is idling very poorly for the last week.
When I stop at traffic lights it cuts out. Sometimes it stay at 2000 rpm in neutral.
Why could this be happening

Check your idle control valve. Then check for vacuum leaks along the entire intake path. Could have a small tear in a rubber elbow.
