Its surprising how well the dye coats the black. A few more coats and it looks like you'd never know it was black at all.

any chance of the dye wearing off and coming off on clothing?

Yeah I think one more coat for now, wait 48 hours, wetsand and another coat. Should look damn purdy, I'm about to add the 3rd coat, pics will be up later tonight. But a word of advice to anyone who ever wants to do this... do NOT buy foam brushes, they honestly suck. I used them to do my first door panel but they application was spotty and they let out a bunch of micro bubbles with the dye. Fine artist acrylic brushes are where it's at, that's what I used on the seat and there are no brush marks when the dye dries, woot.

But goddamn, wear rubber gloves while using the prepping agent. I dont like rubber gloves and never use them but this stuff literally eats your hands. After I prepped the first seat my hands felt really weird, I went to wash them and they felt very very soapy and hurt really bad. I'm assuming prepping agent is a really strong base, just me. Moar updates later tonight, no lie

It feels really natural, I wouldn't think so. It is all in the prep, I spent about 8-10 hours just prepping these front seats for dye because if they are prepped improperly, they will look splotchy, feel rubbery, etc. To make sure that the dye was going to hold up on the leatherette seats, I test dyed a patch on the back first and let it dry for 8 hours. Pretty much all of the regular procedures you would follow for the whole seat, I followed for this test patch and when it held up to my scratch test, I went for the entire seat. Let me upload a pic of the test dye

EDIT: my test patch, gave me the ok to dye the entire seats (this was after 3 coats)

Cinnamon time!

I'll take some more pictures tomorrow morning, the incandescent lights in my room make it look horribly orange so I went and got a new lamp, these pictures should be spot on

2nd coat dry:

Dried coat

3rd coat drying:

epic win

epic win

cinnamon

seat cushion

seams and piping

pad

stitching

It needs another coat, but it needs to dry for 48 hours then I'll wetsand and apply the last coat to completely even it out, woot. In the meantime, I'll get my door panels finished and start putting my car back together. I will make a write up with lessons learned and tips later

That's it for tonight, cheers guys

Hah I've been following your photostream and I was thinking to myself... damn there's got to be a thread somewhere about this... sure enough. It's turning out awesome. I can't wait to see the final coat and these babies installed.

The word "there" can appear as a pronoun, as in “over there."

"Their" is a possessive pronoun. In a phrase like “Susan and Bill's car,” it could be used to to make a new phrase: “their car.”

”They're” is a contraction of “they are.” “They are” should always be able to replace “they're.”
-----------
Extra Credit: It's "I'm looking for an M3"
not "I'm looking for a M3".
