once you do it once or twice, doing the brakes is one of the easiest things you can DIY. I have it all memorized now, dont even have to look in the bentley manual. Rotors are easy as well.

My Brembos and Akebono's should arrive Wednesday from ECS Tuning. And I've already got gloves!
This will be my first BMW brake job (second overall).

^+1, is there a vid for front brakes, i know its almost exactly the same, but im like ocd about this stuff. I've done brakes many times but videos are very entertaining, and who knows, maybe i might miss a step w/o it.

Man.... the link made removing the rotors look SO EASY. I remember trying to get the rear rotors off on my 02 e46 and it was STUCK. (*Yes I released the handbrake and removed the rotor screw*) I was hammering the crap out of it and it just wouldn't come off.

Took it to a near by garage and $190 lighter, my front and back brakes were done (provided them the pads, rotors & sensors).

I also checked out the video before doing my brakes. The only difference in the video and the DIY threads is that the guy on the vid does not remove the caliper guide pins....not really required either.... while I was at it I also painted my calipers with a high temp grill paint from Lowes ($12) satin black high temp enamel.

Brakes aren't difficult on any car, but they're especially easy on an e46. I have no idea how dealerships get away with charging so much money for so little labor. I guess most people just have no idea what they're paying for, and/or no willingness to DIY.

FIXED

Centric Rotors are Very Good Rotors. That is what I'm running with Hawks HPS Pads.
