Convertible top hydraulic fluid

I actually had time to clean my car today and I noticed when I put the top down to clean the inside, it stuttered a bit to close. It also stuttered when I put it back up. Is this because I haven't operated the top in a few months and it has also been very cold in New Jersey so the hydraulic fluid may have been affected or the pump? Just wanted some opinions out there.

I don't remember to well but this guys car an old W124 Mercedes, the top would not function in really cold temperatures, something with the hydraulic top actuators or something.

I posted a note about this about a month ago that my top 04 325 CiC was slowing down. My buddy who worked for Bloomfield BMW said that there is a hydraulic fluid that slowing depletes causing a slow top. Only the dealer apparently can get to the "tank"..and I have not pursued it since I have a hardtop on for the winter, but come the spring I'm going to have to spend a few bucks to figure out what goes where and where to buy it.

Post if you discover any solutions (pun intended) to the problem..

Update. Since it is gettting warmer out I decided to test the top again. This time the top worked. I still wanted BMW to look at something else so I brought it in after work. I asked them about the problem last week and like I originally thought they said it was probably due to the very cold weather which was below freezing and also due to the fact that I didn't put the top down since around October. When spring comes around and it happens again then I will bring it in for service and let you guys know the outcome.
