front speakers

So can i replace the front speakers on my h/k system with out doing anything else to the system? Im thinking of the kappas or some polk component...will either of these be able to just replace the existing ones?

by speakers, do you mean the entire three-way component set up or just the woofers?

if you want to just replace the woofers, it's not too hard. if you're looking to do all three, you won't find anything but BSW to do that for you well.

keep in mind that replacing the woofers will still not necessarily give you the ideal audio setup, since each speaker will have it's own frequency response, decibel sensitivity, and power handling. what you need to make sure of in the case of just replacing the woofers in your front doors is that they're two-ohm speakers. if the ohms don't match up, you'll have issues with balancing your front lows with the mids and highs.

you can put in coaxial (2-way, 3-way, 4-way) speakers, but you won't hear any highs out of them since the built-in crossover in the amplifier cuts those out. if you want some good 6.5" speakers that are rated at 2-ohms, you may want to look into the Infinity Kappa 60.9cs component speakers, you can use the woofers from that set to get some much better than stock sound out of your existing setup, i ran those speakers in the rear deck for a week before pulling the rest of my system apart to finish the install. however, at the price point for those speakers, you almost may be better just paying the ~$150 for BSW's pair of front woofers.

Infinity Kappa makes a 5 1/4" version of that too, in case you want to use mounting brackets and keep the install simple. i'd always recommend door-mounting versus panel-mounting if you want to get the best sound out of your speakers though.

do some digging and you'll find some alternative 2-ohm speakers out there.

looking for an upgrade...I spoke to an installer at an audio shop and he gave the bsw kit a thumbs up! Is there still a 10% off code?

The code is for a 'share BSW with a friend'. We do not just give out the code(s). I am sure someone on the forum here has a code for you to use. Glad to hear positive things about our products
