Just saw this... Simply fantastic DIY...

Only thing worth mentioning here that wasn't... On 2nd and 3rd generation Sirius units, you need to move the pin 2 to position 3 in the Sirius slave cable or you'll get ibus traffic noise...

Heated Steering Wheel Pictorial DIY next... (wink wink)

So SNA77 do you think I'm ready for the Nav upgrade? I feel that everything I'm doing is leading up to the full nav upgrade. I've learned how to take various parts of my car apart quickly, efficiently and in the coldest and darkest of winter nights.

I'm turned off by the huge budget and tedious parts amalgamation for the Navagation/BT DIY.

I estimate at least 6 months to a year to accumulate all the parts including for the BT and Nav Cds.

And at least a Budget of $3,000 for everything.

Which can possibly be offset by about $1,000 by selling what I have now in my car. But still that is 2 grand too much for 10 year old technology in a 10 year old car.

If anything I will do it just to see if I can do it, then sell the car right after and get a 2012 535i.

Second option is to go down to Chinatown, put $400 on the pavement and get a Dynavin.

I wouldn't bother with the OEM upgrade. Not worth it. Also, I think your system with all the add-ons you did is way nicer and stealthier that that (only semi-OEM looking) Dynavin thing.

Actually I really lucked out on it. I mean really lucked out.
I just happen to be home sick that day and logged onto eBay around 10am and saw a seller trying to get rid of a CD53 unit with the production date of 02/2006for $200 Buy It Now. Lucky for me the seller had just listed it minutes before I logged on to eBay.

He only had the part number and production date of the CD53 and only one small blurry picture of it on his auction listing.

Using the part number guide off the

http://www.intravention.co.uk/index....d=13&Itemid=32

website I immediately discovered that this unit played MP3 CDs.

Too bad for the seller since he had no idea it played MP3s and was more than happy to get rid of it for $200 Buy It Now/Shipped.

I'm sure if he knew what exactly he was selling he would asked $350 for it minimum.

When I told him after the fact he said he didn't care and was only selling it for his neighbor who put in a AVIC Pioneer system in their 2005 M3 coupe.

The Sirius Units seems to be running fairly high these days. I was wondering if anyone has anyone tried this:
SiriusConnect for Alpine
?? Delmarco you think if we combine that with Alpine KCE-422i we get same results?

I asked about this a few months ago and was told this wouldn't work with the BMW CD53 unit it was only for the Alpine aftermarket head units.

The Sirius SC-C1 can be integrated to the DICE MediaBridge for less than the cost of an OEM receiver and give full Sirius integration (text, presets, etc) on your Business CD.

Hey,
Does the SC-C1 display onto the CD53 Head Units and work off the Steering Wheel buttons?

People are PM/asking me about it but I don't know.

Hey delmarco,

What if I just want to play Sirius & CDs only, but no MP3, do I have to upgrade to the CD53, or just install the Sirius unit in the trunk?

If you're talking about adding the OEM BMW sirius, then you just need a CD53 from a model year 2003 e46 and newer (radio manufacture date Sept 2002 and newer). CD53 with mp3 started in model year 2005.

I am selling my Alpine CD53 MP3 Data, Sirius, AUX deck if anyone wants it. (I will also throw in my portable Navigation unit for free-just for tonight only see below. )

It fits and works in all year BMW 3 series coupes, sedans and convertibles from 1998 to 2006.

I have the opportunity to get an E46 Navigation kit and may go that route as I am thinking it over tonight:

Included in Sale:

-02/2006 Manufacture Date BMW Alpine Head Unit Radio, Model CD53, Part Number 65. 12-6 961 215
This is an Original Alpine CD53 Radio and NOT refurbished.

-USA-Spec Ipod Data Link w/ AUX IN

-And I will also include the Voice Command ck3000 cttpar007 Bluetooth as a bonus If I realize that it doesn't work with the Navigation.

$500 gets everything*

PM or email me at olaf2046@tmo.blackberry.net first come first gets it.

Even if you are interested and want to make an offer or can only pay later on let me know because I am still not sure at the moment if I want to trade this in for the E46 Nav.

This CD53 head unit with Sirius, MP3, AUX, Ipod and Bluetooth is hands down the sweetest thing I have in my car and it will be hard for me to sell.

*I'm putting this on eBay tomorrow and it will be out of my hands then since used and refurbished versions of unit can sell alone for $400 to $500. My kit is in brand new condition and comes with the USA-Spec Ipod Data Kit and AUX-Input (valued at $150).

For tonight only I will throw this in the deal for free.

my Nav unit as shown below. Everything is MINT in original box and software and maps has been updated as of September 1st 2010.

Features Turn-by-turn Voice Command, Full Bluetooth Capabilities(play music from unit to your car or use with cell phone to dial contacts and phone numbers at destination address), MP3 capabilites on units HD or with SD card, Free updates whenever online, plus much more...

I will also include the BMW E46 3 Series custom dash mount with unit.

These Tom Tom Go 720 kits sell for much more with less on eBay.

PM or email me at olaf2046@tmo.blackberry.net
