For Gary: Tire size for square set up

I may be buying this set up from Tire Rack so it would be great to hear from Gary amongst the other experts on this board.
I was planning on going non staggered and running Dunlop SS on a set of Kosei K1's 17x8.5 40et on all 4 corners but I wonder about tire size. should I go 245/40/17 or 255/40/17 all around?
My car has the stock sport suspension and is a weekend toy. I may do a couple of AutoX and HPDE events but I do prefer to keep the suspension stock due to crappy roads in MA. I may upgrade sways to dial out understeer but that is it.
I want to maintain the correct sizing for odometer gearing and don't expect to roll the fenders either unless the benefits are warranted.
What do you suggest?

The Z1 Star Spec tires run very wide for their size, so I would stick with 245/40R17 for the first set. If, after trying those out and you find that you have the extra clearance for 255's, you can always go that route for your next tire purchase.
